Aaron Lock aka Lockie

Aaron Lock is the principle instructor based in Sumner. Aaron is 36 years old with over 26 years of surf experience.

Aaron is one of New Zealand's top competitive Bodyboarders and has many competition titles to his name. He is also a successful surfing competitor. He splits his surfing time between Shortboarding, Longboarding and Bodyboarding.

Aaron has been coaching Surfing and Bodyboarding for over 17 years. He is a qualified Internation Surf Assoc.(ISA) Level 1 Surf Coach and Coaching New Zealand Level 2 Coach. He is current coach of the Canterbury Scholastic Surf Team.

Aaron is trained in First Aid and Surf Lifesaving.

Aaron is a ISA Level One Surf Judge and is regularly involved in Judging and Administrating local and national surfing competitions.

Ambrose McNeil

Ambrose has been coaching with us for over 4 years. He is a great surf coach with a happy personality. Ambrose teaches all levels and all ages of surfers.

Ambrose is a top Longboard surfer and competes on the New Zealand Longboard tour.

Ambrose was teaching in France for the 2009 winter and is now studying at Canterbury University for a Degree in Sport Science.

Nic Todd aka Toddy

Toddy is one of our newest team members starting coaching in the 2009 summer.

Toddy is a really laid back guy and an excellent longboard surfer competing locally and on the New Zealand Longboard tour.

He's also a great surf coach and you're guaranteed a fun lesson if Toddy is taking your group.

Toddy is also a skilled lifesaver and is a member of the Sumner Surf Lifesaving club

Neill Robb

Neill is the newest member of our team starting coaching in 2010. He also happens to be the eldest team member but still a grommett at heart.

Neill is a highly skilled shortboard surfer with several National and South Island titles to his name.

Neill is great with the technical aspects of surfing, so if you're having trouble perfecting your bottom turn or cutback he's the one to talk to.

Lucy Hodgson

Lucy has been working with us for 2 years. Originally from England, Lucy now lives in Sumner and is the keenest surfer ever.

Lucy is passioate about the outdoors. She is a PADI Dive Master, qualified canoe guide and mountain guide and is also an accomplished Stand Up Paddle boarder.

Lucy also works at the Exit Surf shop so is a great person to talk to for surfboard advice.

Robert "Fants" Fantham

Rob wont tell us how old he is but he's a surfer with over 15 years experience.

He's a great sports man and excellent motivator.

Rob is a top waterman with National titles in Surf Life Saving. In the winter months Rob is Head of Water Safety at a summer camp in the USA.

David Watkins aka Davo

David is 26 years old and has been coaching since 2004. David has been surfing for over 13years and rates his favourite surfbreaks as Piha, Sydney's Northern beaches, Tahiti and Taylors Mistake.

David is a member of the Point Surf Team boardriders and is a competitor and judge on the South Island Surfing Circuit.

Lana Lock

Lana has been involved with surfing for over 17 years. As Aarons wife she has been traveling to surfing comp's and beaches for the last 21 years.

Lana loves the ocean with fishing one of her passions.

Whilst Lana is not a top surfer her love of the ocean and people skills make her a great coach. She is especially good with young children and also adult clients who are having difficulty mastering the sport.
